Every tool currently on SomethingTools runs in your browser. Files, filenames, image pixels, links, QR content, JSON, JWTs, regular expressions, and transformed text are never uploaded to our application servers.

What stays on your device

Tool inputs live in the memory of the page and its processing workers. Downloads are generated locally. Clearing a tool or leaving its page releases its working data. We do not put tool inputs in URLs, browser history, cookies, localStorage, or analytics.

Your preferences

We use localStorage for your theme, favorite tool slugs, and up to eight recently visited tool slugs. This contains tool names, never what you entered. You can clear it using your browser’s site-data controls. Tools work even when browser storage is unavailable. In that case, preference changes last only until this tab reloads.

Optional usage counters

If enabled by the site operator, the application sends only a tool slug, started/completed/failed counts, fixed format names, and broad size and duration buckets to a same-origin endpoint. These are aggregated by UTC date. There are no visitor IDs, session IDs, IP address columns, or event-level history in the application database. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable these counters in the browser.

Website delivery

Your browser still requests the website and its software from our hosting provider. The host necessarily receives connection information such as your IP address and may keep operational access logs. That is separate from tool processing: your inputs are not included in those requests. We load no third-party trackers or advertising scripts.

Things to keep in mind

Your browser, operating system, extensions, and clipboard manager may have their own behavior. Copying a result puts it on your system clipboard; downloading creates a file on your device. Clearing a tool does not delete those copies.
